    At the DLR Institute of Vehicle Concepts, you will have the opportunity to view an innovative vehicle prototype from the Next Generation Car family with an extremely lightweight design. You will also be introduced to the latest research work on more sustainable wood-based structural vehicle components and a brand-new modular vehicle concept, before visiting the institute's crash test facility.

Its main research focus lies on high-performance fibers and materials, new and adaptive processes in fiber and yarn production as well as textile finishing and functionalization. The DITF employs state-of-the-art technology in all its research areas; moreover, it harnesses the potential of digital IT and communication technologies for “Textile 4.0”. Its service offering includes a wide range of textile testing services, prototype construction and a pilot factory.

    At TRUMPF, you will be given a guided tour of the demonstration center and the “Additive Manufacturing” showroom: The demonstration center shows the entire sheet metal process chain, with machines and systems for cutting, punching, bending and welding sheet metal all ready for demonstration. And the “Additive Manufacturing” showroom features machines from the TruPrint series and application examples for metal 3D printing.

Highlights of the tour include our 3D skeleton winding technology for locally reinforcing injection-molded parts, radio-frequency molding for technical particle foams and a modular pilot installation for the production of hybrid thermoplastic components.
